May 29, 1967 Graceland Wedding. As Colonel Tom Parker forbid the Memphis Mafia from attending the Las Vegas wedding convincing Elvis that there was no room for all of them many were incensed. Because many of the Memphis Mafia guys complained Elvis and Priscilla performed the a second wedding ceremony at Graceland complete with wedding cake, bridal gown, tuxedo and minister. The reception was catered in the blue room by Monte's Catering Service, Memphis .

Priscilla Presley Praises Scotty McCreery: 'Elvis Would've Loved You'

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Scotty McCreery has been given the seal of approval from The King.

As Scotty exclusively visited Access Hollywood on Thursday, the morning following his "American Idol" win, he revealed to Billy Bush that one of those closest to Elvis Presley gave him the biggest compliment of his life.

"The coolest thing anybody's ever told me -- Priscilla Presley was at the show two weeks ago, and she looked at me after we were done, and she said, 'Elvis would've loved you,'" Scotty, who covered "Always On My Mind" during his "Idol" run said. "That is the coolest thing anybody's ever told me 'cause he was my idol growing up."

Scotty will follow his "Idol" win with a tour alongside his fellow Top 11 (the group was bumped up to include an extra person when Casey Abrams was saved on the edge of the Top 10 round), but the singer said he has some business to take care of at home - quitting his job at the grocery store.

"My manager called and said I haven't turned in my two weeks notice yet, so I gotta give him a call," Scotty said. "I've still got my apron in there whenever I need to push some carts..."

Scotty might still be pushing carts and performing Elvis songs for a group of friends if hadn't been for one special person in his life, mom Judy.

"I wouldn't have made it this far without her, I'll tell you what. She's been by my side since day one. She took one weekend off in the months we've been out here," Scotty said. "She's just been there for me... she was always there to help me out and I appreciate that more than you know."

American Idol Recap: Paul F. Tompkins on Homecomings and Disasters, Both Natural and Show-Related

The show fake-dramas us right off the bat, with various clips of the judges praising the top three, and Jimmy Iovine throwing his two cents in on video for good measure. Video Jimmy’s big prediction for the finale? “There’ll be a guy in it.” Why are we still going through this pointless exercise? And I don’t mean American Idol. I mean life.

The show begins, and in the crowd we see many of this season’s Fallen Idols! There’s Paul! And Casey! Also Jacob! Plus Naima! Additionally Thia! Ashthon is another! Pia, okay! I believe Stefano was on the show! And thanks for adding MySpace’s Karen Rodriguez! I expected to see them all next week, I guess, for a “taste of the tour,” but perhaps they’re here because this will be the last night of suspense before Scotty wins.

Ryan reveals there were 95 million votes last night, the most in Idol history! At this point in the competition, that is. Remember that one year they had one billion votes, and it was all to make sure the Green River Killer didn’t make it into the top nine? Why didn’t they just arrest him while he was there? Ah, that’s for history to figure out, I guess. I liked when he sang “Close to You,” though. Ryan throws to a package and gives it very little introduction, just that last week the top four were sent on a mission. The top four? Wait, why am I seeing James? It feels weird to see him! I know the fate of this Video James! I am uncomfortable watching this ignorant James of the past because of my secret knowledge of his future. Well, there isn’t any time for my feelings, as usual, because the mission is revealed: to meet film and television bigwig J.J. Abrams. The kids meet Jayj at his production company, Bad Robot, and have to stand around in the lobby with their Bad Robot giveaway T-shirts slung over their shoulders. I am not trying to tell Bad Robot how to run their business, but maybe give your visiting dignitaries the swag at the end of the tour, so they don’t have to carry them around while you show them the original model of Cloverfield. J. Jab then welcomes the kids in to a screening room, so they can take part in promoting their host’s new film, Super 8. Thanks to night-vision cameras, we get to watch the kids watch a couple of scenes from the movie. We do not get to see all the scenes the kids see, presumably; we get to see the stuff you can already see in the trailer, which is the promise of things happening. Can you imagine if this results show were only a half-hour? If you can, start doing so, because maybe your imagination will drift away to something more interesting than watching people watch a movie you can’t actually watch. When the lights come up, the kids are thrilled to have seen this footage, so much so they seem to be verging on distraught. As a reward for being entertained, Jabrams gives the kids super 8 cameras of their very own! He’s like the Willy Wonka of obsolete technology.

Back in the studio, Ryan takes up the burden of promoting Super 8. Look, Idol is a family, and everyone must do their part. Ry chats with one of the stars of the film, Elle Fanning. I do not hear a word she says because I am looking only behind her, transfixed by just how much Priscilla Presley is not looking at the camera.

It’s my job to knock Cowell off his perch... Brushes with death and a rumoured affair with Priscilla Presley, ‘nasty’ Nigel Lythgoe finally comes clean

                                      By Rebecca Hardy

Last updated at 10:30 PM on 13th May 2011

Nigel Lythgoe is passionate about dance. He’s passionate about TV, too. In fact, he’s a rather passionate man, full stop. When his 34-year marriage to wife Bonnie ended in 2007, he struck up a friendship with Priscilla Presley.

‘She was just finishing a relationship,’ he says. ‘She got me through a lot. The divorce devastated me. I hadn’t necessarily been a good boy through the 34 years. We’d had our ups and downs – other relationships. But we stuck together. After 34 years I guess I didn’t think we’d ever split up. It was terribly, terribly hard.

‘I tried a therapist but it didn’t work for me. It was easier to go out to dinners with Priscilla. We had many nights of talking.’ And now? ‘We’ve become dear friends,’ he says cryptically. ‘I call a friendship a relationship. It’s not just her looks. She’s just gorgeous as a person, too,’ he continues with an I’m-absolutely-smitten sort of smile.

Passionate: Nigel Lythgoe, the man behind Popstars struck up a friendship with Priscilla Presley after his 34-year marriage to wife Bonnie ended in 2007

This is, of course, Nasty Nigel from the judging panel of Popstars. Remember? The bloke who told the rather plump contestant Kym Marsh: ‘Christmas may be gone but I see the goose is still fat.’ She cried. Viewing figures went through the roof.

So, let’s cut to the chase. Is Priscilla his lover? ‘No,’ he says. ‘I don’t have to sleep with all my girlfriends.’ All your girlfriends? ‘No names,’ he says. ‘I can’t because two of them wouldn’t like to know about the other one. I believe a good sex life makes you healthy, but I don’t think I can pin myself down to one person at the moment.’

Nigel barely has time to draw breath, flying back and forth each week between London (where he appears as a judge on the show he created – BBC1’s So You Think You Can Dance) and Los Angeles, where he’s returned to American Idol as executive producer, three years after he left the show he helped create – and after the departure of star judge Simon Cowell.

‘I think Simon would have preferred it if the show had been unsuccessful without him,’ says Nigel. ‘It was believed he was the be-all and end-all of the show. I’ve never believed that. Idol wouldn’t be successful in 70-odd countries without him in it if that were the case. When I was invited back after Simon left, I saw it as an opportunity to start something fresh.’

Best friends: Nigel says that dinners with Priscilla was easier than seeing a therapist and they spent many nights talking

And to show Simon he’s not God? ‘It’s always my job to do that. Simon knows that,’ he says. ‘You can’t have yes people around you all the time. I know he fancies himself as a producer but I don’t class him as one. I class him as a celebrity.’ Ouch. Nigel, you see, is the bloke who started all these TV talent shows.

Eleven years ago, while in Australia, he saw Popstars and brought it back to the UK. He moved on to Pop Idol, which spawned Simon Cowell vehicles The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent. So You Think You Can Dance was born in 2005. A producer and former controller of light entertainment at LWT, he only ended up in front of the camera when Simon dropped out of Popstars at the 11th hour.

‘I originally wanted Jonathan King,’ he says. ‘Then I went to Simon Cowell. I needed someone to be the Mr Nasty character, if the show was going to do what I wanted it to do. Two weeks before Popstars, Cowell dropped out.’ Was he furious? ‘Yes,’ he says. ‘We see it differently. He says he didn’t want to do it because he didn’t believe in it. I believe he pulled out because we didn’t do the record deal with his company. We did it with Universal. He was furious with that because it meant he wouldn’t have got anything out of it.’

But that was before The X Factor. Before Cowell became God. Isn’t Nigel just a little bit jealous? ‘I’ll be totally honest,’ he says. ‘Am I envious financially? Yes. Would I like what he has to build his lifestyle around? No. Not in terms of lying awake worrying if things are going to work. That’s why I got out of being a controller. You are only as good as your worst programme. It didn’t matter how good Blind Date was if Barrymore was failing.

‘Michael Barrymore came out of the closet the week I took over as controller and I spent three weeks talking to the press about him. Then I had to fire Jeremy Beadle. I think the next one was explaining why the Gladiators took steroids. I didn’t come into the job to do that. I came into it to make programmes.’

Success story: Nigel, producer and co-creator of So You Think You Can Dance, pictured with fellow judges (From left to right: Sisco Gomez, Louise Redknapp and Arlene Phillips)

Born on Merseyside, Nigel started as a dancer and then choreographer on the BBC’s Young Generation. He progressed through the entertainment industry to the post at LWT, where he commissioned and produced shows such as Gladiators and Blind Date. In 2001, he left LWT to join Simon Fuller’s 19 Entertainment group and soon moved to the States to produce American Idol.

Life was going swimmingly until 2003, when he returned to LA after a New Year break in Barbados with Cowell – and had a heart attack. ‘The worst was when they stopped my heart. My heartbeat became arrhythmic so they shot a bolt of electricity through to stop it, then waited a few seconds before starting it again. There were a few tears then. You think: “Will it start again?”’

He was back working just a week later. Then his appendix burst and he became desperately ill with peritonitis. ‘I’d just got back from Hawaii with Cowell, doing the auditions for American Idol. All I can say is never go on holiday with Simon Cowell,’ he laughs – but it was no laughing matter. He was in intensive care for six weeks, lost 15ft of intestine, half his colon and almost his life.

‘My appendix exploded and poisoned everything. It was horrific. I was on morphine and high most of the time. I did a lot of praying. Made pacts that I’d always go to church on Sundays. But the minute I left hospital I forgot everything. I sort of reasoned that I’d been so lucky achieving the opportunities I’d been given, that you have to accept it in terms of the balance of life.’

In 2005, just after Nigel had just produced the first series of the American version of So You Think You Can Dance, he discovered his wife was having an affair. He got the divorce papers through the post. ‘One of my sons called me to tell me. He said: “Mum wanted you to know so it didn’t come as too much of a shock.” She was probably worried about me having another heart attack. It was just horrible. My marriage was my life.

‘I did get into trouble later when I said to a journalist: “Since I’ve been in America I’ve lost the back of my heart, 15ft of my intestine and my wife – God I miss my intestine.” ‘But,’ he adds, ‘I am very lucky to have a life after marriage. Just think of the number of people who, when they lose their partner, haven’t got what I’ve got – the career or the financial side of it. There are a lot of people who are left with nothing.’

Any plans to marry one of those girlfriends, then? ‘Not at this moment,’ he says. ‘But who knows what might happen.’

So You Think You Can Dance is on BBC1 tonight at 5.30pm.

Strip Scribbles: Presley company CKX purchased for $509 million

                                      By Robin Leach

As key shareholders in CKX, Priscilla Presley and daughter Lisa Marie Presley gave the OK for Apollo Global Management to buy it for $509 million. CKX, which owns Elvis Presley Enterprises and Graceland, is partnered with Cirque du Soleil and MGM Resorts in Viva Elvis at Aria.

The megabucks deal also includes an 80 percent interest in licensing rights to Muhammad Ali, who is managed by Siegfried & Roy’s Las Vegas guru Bernie Yuman.

                                      Viva Elvis Media Tour

Now for the really interesting part: Apollo is the money bankrolling Caesars Entertainment -- formerly Harrah’s. This means the financial group with $67.6 billion in assets, 485 employees and offices from New York to London to Hong Kong and India now has its hands in two rival hospitality corporations who control the Strip’s gaming industry.

Apollo was the major partner of three private equity firms that purchased Harrah’s for $28 billion in January 2008 and then bought another $2 billion of Harrah’s loans the following year.

                                      Hello to all!

Just to let you know that I, along with Lisa Marie and Elvis Presley Enterprises, am totally supportive of this new partnership. We are confident that Apollo will provide the resources to help us continue to expand Elvis's legacy in new, creative and exciting ways and we look forward to seeing what the future holds.

                                      Sincerely,

Celeb roundup: Steve Wynn wedding, Tiger Woods’ Jam + Charlie Sheen By Don Chareunsy

The boys were back in town in The Entertainment Capital of the World, and they were center stage, from a Las Vegas royal wedding for a hotel mogul to concerts galore and, finally, to a much-hyped but ultimately low-key appearance by a talented but complicated actor named Charlie Sheen.

While Prince William and Kate Middleton were watched by millions upon millions in their multi-million-dollar Royal Wedding in England, Steve Wynnalso wed a British woman, the now-former Andrea Hissom, in a wedding attended by hundreds (reports range from 500 to 1,000 guest).

Oscar winner Clint Eastwood made Wynn’s day by serving as the best man, and Sylvester Stallone, Priscilla Presley and Lisa Marie Presleywere among the guests. Mr. Vegas DeLuxe Robin Leach and Senior Editor John Katsilometeswere on Las Vegas royal wedding duty.

Thanks to the newly wed Steve and Andrea Wynn, they’ve let the public watch their faux wedding ceremony they created in advance of their real wedding over the weekend. Hotel mogul Steve dressed as Elvis and the former Andrea Hissom dressed as Lady Gaga complete with white, high-heel boots.

All 1,000 guests loved the video, and Steve has kindly agreed to share what he showed to his well-wishers, among them Priscilla Presley and Joe Esposito, Elvis’ friend and former bodyguard.

Congratulations again to the bride and groom, and enjoy the completed video.
