She has vintage Priscilla Presley hair, and her clothing style is 52 years old, but "Elvis Barbie" is brand new.

With her familiar posable body, Barbie is decked out in the famous gold lamé suit designed for Elvis by Hollywood tailor Nudie Cohn. It became one of Elvis' signature looks and the cover of his 1959 album 50,000,000 Elvis Fans Can't Be Wrong.

Elvis later declared the suit was too hot to wear on stage and wore the jacket with black slacks.

The Barbie version of Elvis is being released in early July, and Graceland has ordered 250 of the $34.95 collector dolls from toy maker Mattel. "We anticipate they will be here by the weekend, and we will immediately post on elvis.com when the shipment arrives," said Graceland spokeswoman Alicia Dean.

Graceland marketing vice president Scott Williams said Elvis paid $10,000 for the gold lamé suit. The tailor, flamboyant Russian immigrant Nudie Cohn, also was widely known as tailor to singer Hank Williams, Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, and other country and western stars. Later clients included Cher and Elton John. The clothes often involved chain-stitch embroidery, and, like the gold lamé suit, rhinestones.

It will be on display through October 9, 2011. The Dixon is the only venue in the United States where visitors can see the exhibition.

                                      10. Elvis and Priscilla Presley (10 Years)

                                      Monday, June 27, 2011

Although the couple met when Priscilla was only 14 at a party at the singer's home in Germany, Elvis was reportedly immediately reduced to an "awkward, embarrassed" demeanor in her presence. Despite the decade age difference between the two, the couple's courtship lasted almost eight years, and their eventual marriage lasted another six and a half years. Elvis later explained their divorce by saying that you "can't teach a person to be affectionate."

                                      Hello Everyone!

I celebrated my birthday in England with my family. Harper and Finley sang Happy Birthday to me as the cake was brought in all lit with candles. It was a very special moment. They were very proud of themselves that they finished the song all the way through. Oh, so cute!

I have been very busy designing for my next QVC appearance, that will take place in late August. This will be a whole new collection to add to yours. Again, it is inspired by my own pieces. I must say it is fun designing for all of you. You have inspired me to stay true to my design instincts. It is a challenge since there are a lot of opinions. Your letters are encouraging. Thank you.

                                      Warmly,
                                      Priscilla

By the way, if any of you are in the San Francisco or surrounding area, my son, Navarone, will be at the Boom Boom Room Thursday, June 23rd at 11:00pm. His band is “Them Guns.” Send your grandkids or kids- 18 and older.

WHY ELVIS’S GRANDSON HAS FANS ALL SHOOK UP

                                      Saturday June 4,2011

                                      By Jessica Pickin

WITH his rugged good looks, full lips and rocker style, Elvis’s grandson Ben Keough bears a striking resemblance to the legendary singer.

Ben, 19, stepped out in London’s West End this week with his grandmother Priscilla, 66, his mother Lisa Marie, 43, and his other grandmother, Anna Lillian, 85.

The Presley group were in a party mood as they spent the evening at the Ivy restaurant followed by a trip to the Groucho Club in Soho.

And the three generations of women in the family appeared close, linking arms at one point.

Priscilla wore a black blouse with a long matching necklace, while for Lisa Marie it was a white shirt and red jacket. Ben, meanwhile, not only looks like his famous grandfather but is also keen to follow in his musical footsteps, having signed a recording deal with Universal.

The teenager’s grandmother Priscilla married Elvis in 1967 but the couple divorced six years later.

Ben is the son of their daughter, Lisa Marie, and her first husband Danny Keough, a musician whom she married in the late 1980s.

Ben’s older sister, Riley Keough, 21, also attended the family gathering in London.

She is a model whose high-profile roles include a recent Lee Jeans campaign in which she adopted a pose mirroring her grandfather’s signature look.

Four generations of Elvis Presley's family hit London - and not one of them cracks a smile

THEY live in the lap of luxury thanks to his fame – but four generations of Elvis Presley’s family couldn’t raise a smile on a London trip.

They all looked glum despite enjoying a night out at The Ivy restaurant and then the exclusive Groucho Club.

The King’s ex-wife Priscilla, 66, was with her mum Anna Lillian, 85, son from a later marriage Navarone, 23, daughter Lisa-Marie, 43, and her children Riley, 21, and Ben, 19. An onlooker said: “They didn’t seem to be enjoying themselves.”

Ambitious art exhibits likely to make quite an impression at Memphis galleries

When Dixon Gallery and Gardens opens the largest exhibition in its 35-year history June 25-26, actress and businesswoman Priscilla Presley will be a guest for a grand reception that includes art collectors from around the country and members of the family of Impressionist artist Jean-Louis Forain from France.

"Jean-Louis Forain: La Comèdie Parisienne" kicks off with a June 25 gala that's already sold out and will be open to the public June 26 through Oct. 9. The exhibition of 125 paintings, pastels, prints and decorative objects is a collaboration between the Dixon and the Petit Palais, the Museum of Fine Arts of the City of Paris. The Dixon is the only venue for the exhibition in the United States.

The exhibit has also fostered a local collaboration that could garner Memphis national attention: With Memphis Brooks Museum of Art opening the survey exhibition "The Impressionist Revolution" on July 16, the two museums are working together on a program called "A Very Impressionistic Summer," during which visitors will be able to see both exhibitions for the price of one.

The collaboration received national notice when The New York Times carried an insert for it in its Sunday edition on May 22.

"The ambition of a project like this is important," said Dixon director Kevin Sharp. "Any time an organization tries something bigger and better than it has done before, it does a great deal of good not only for that institution but for the city. It's a way of helping us all grow together."

Forain (1852-1931) was a follower of Degas and friend of the Impressionist painters. He was also a mentor to Toulouse-Lautrec.

Forain's gift was for caricature and social satire, and like Toulouse-Lautrec, he haunted the theaters, opera houses, ballet stages, cabarets and salons of Paris in search of worthy material for his acid-edged humor.

In 1993, the Dixon acquired a collection of 57 drawings, pastels, watercolors, paintings and decorative fans by Forain, making the museum a center for the study of the artist.

"That acquisition laid the groundwork for what we're doing with the exhibition today," said Sharp, "but the exhibition isn't just about our collection. We borrowed works from museums and collections in six countries, so it's truly an international event."

The Dixon-Brooks partnership on "A Very Impressionistic Summer" includes sharing national publicity and marketing costs. Information is available at impressmemphis.org.

"Kevin and I have been looking for a way to collaborate," said Brooks director Cameron Kitchen, "and we felt that these exhibitions, one a deep look at one Impressionist artist, and ours a survey of American and French Impressionism, presented a unique opportunity. You don't really understand one without the other.

"I don't think that another American city has had exhibitions of this nature together or this sort of partnership before. It really brings national attention to our great summer of art."
