Exclusive: Vince Neil talks about Priscilla Presley, jail and the IRS

When rocker Vince Neil showed up to support Priscilla Presley at Nevada Ballet Theatre’s tribute to her as Woman of the Year on Saturday night, nobody really knew of their friendship. I sat with my friend Vince and his news gal pal Alicia Jacobs at the 27th Annual Black & White Ball at Aria, so it was natural that we’d talk about several things: how he became a houseguest in Priscilla’s home; how he feels about the upcoming 15-day DUI jail sentence he faces; and his reaction to reports that the IRS has a $1 million lien on his Las Vegas home.

The Motley Crue singer laughed: “I was in between wives and houses, and she was nice enough to say, ‘Hey, come stay at the chauffeur’s quarters above the garage.’ I wasn’t really homeless, but it was a transition. I was living in hotels at the time in between houses. I had met Priscilla because I did business with her former longtime beau, Marco (Garibaldi). He said instead of living in a hotel, why don’t you move to the house.

“I’d go to dinner there a lot. I was even at Navarone’s 16th birthday party and really got to know the family. It was really cool. Priscilla and I have remained friends all these years. That’s despite the fact the first time I was so nervous meeting her, I spilled my water glass. Then the next time I was even more nervous and spilled my red wine glass over her! But we laughed about it and have been friends ever since.

Family Reunites at Presley's Tribute

Priscilla Presley's "Woman of the Year" tribute at the Nevada Ballet Theatre's Black and White Ball turned into a family reunion with several surprises on Saturday at CityCenter.

Daughter Lisa Marie flew in from England with her husband, American guitarist Michael Lockwood, joining Priscilla's mother, Ann, Priscilla's son Navarone Garibaldi and other relatives and friends.

Even Jerry Schilling, a member of Elvis' Memphis Mafia, made it. He was in the wedding party when Priscilla and Elvis where married on May 1, 1972, at the Aladdin.

A program surprise came when Mötley Crüe frontman Vince Neil was among those speaking on Presley's behalf.

At a pre-event reception at Cartier in Crystals, Presley and Neil cleared up the mystery of why he was there.

Neil, who was scheduled to be at the podium for about a minute, stayed in the chauffeur's quarters at her Beverly Hills residence about a decade ago.

He was a friend of her former longtime companion Marco Garibaldi , who was doing business deals with Neil at the time.

Neil's appearance came less than a week after the rocker received a two-week jail sentence and two weeks of house arrest for a misdemeanor charge of driving while under the influence back in June. Neil, who turns 50 on Feb. 8, begins the jail sentence Feb. 15.

 Despite a dramatic tabloid report this week that she collapsed at her English estate because she was weakened by an extreme diet, the musician's rep insists she's in excellent health.



 "It is absolutely and completely untrue," Presley's rep tells PEOPLE of claims that Presley was rushed back to the United States for treatment by the Church of Scientology after losing 55 lbs. in five months. "The National Enquirer puts Lisa on the cover every few months with manipulated photos and horrendous stories of supposed 'meltdowns,' and has since she can remember." 



 Presley, 42, is Los Angeles for work, recording her third album.

"She is happy and healthy and working hard," adds the rep. "The rest is absolute garbage. Not a bit of truth to any of it." 



 Presley's main residence is in England, where she lives with her guitarist husband Michael Lockwood. She has four children.

Priscilla Presley's association with dance goes beyond her stint on "Dancing With the Stars." This Saturday,the Nevada Ballet Theatre will honor Priscilla Presley as Woman of the Year during their annual Black & White Ball at Aria Resort in CityCenter.

Luxury Las Vegas magazine calls it the "crème de la crème" of social events. The ball is two-fold by paying tribute to Priscilla as a widely admired and influential woman, while raising funds to continue the valuable programs offered by the nonprofit Nevada Ballet Theatre. This year's ball is sponsored by Cartier, and will be attended by Priscilla's friends and family, celebrities, and guests with purchased tickets through Nevada Ballet Theatre. If you're interested in rubbing elbows with the stars and supporting a good cause, here's what you need to know:

All Priscilla: Presley is her own enterprise as a successful publisher, performer, and business woman -- also formerly married to Elvis Presley. Priscilla has a luxury linen line, popular perfumes, is the author of the New York Times bestseller Elvis and Me, and has starred in movies and television shows like "Dallas." On January 22, 2006 Lisa Marie Presley married her 4th husband, guitarist, songwriter, producer, Michael Lockwood in a small ceremony in Kyoto, Japan. Mother, Priscilla Presley gave the bride away.

Back on May 1, 1967, when she and Elvis eloped to Las Vegas, their biggest concern was TV gossip hound Rhona Barrett, who was hot on their heels.

Today? An army of celebrity snoops and photo snappers from A to TMZ would be swarming the Aladdin when they arrived.

Still, "it was quite a feat," said Presley, who will be forever linked to Las Vegas, where she returns Jan. 29 as Nevada Ballet Theatre's Woman of the Year at the Black and White Ball.

In an interview Wednesday, she provided a rare walk-through of the most famous wedding in Las Vegas history.

Months earlier, Priscilla, then 21, had donned a disguise to check out wedding dresses with her faux "fiancé," Charlie Hodges, one of Elvis' pals.

The day before the wedding they flew here from Palm Springs, Calif., where Frank Sinatra provided his private plane to take them to Las Vegas to help them avoid the media.

With media camped in front of their Palm Springs residence because of wedding rumblings, Elvis and Priscilla sneaked out a back door and flew to Las Vegas about 2 a.m. to get a marriage license before dawn. Other than the clerk and another couple, the office was deserted.

Today their secret would have hit the Twitterverse and been halfway around the world before the sun came up.

With their $15 marriage license, they headed to the Aladdin, where arrangements had been made to have Nevada Supreme Court Justice David Zenoff marry them.

To keep it under wraps, part of the Aladdin was shut down. The ceremony was in the living quarters of Aladdin President Milton Prell. They got married about 11:30 a.m., she recalled, and couldn't believe they had outfoxed the media.

They hadn't completely: The story was already out, several hours earlier. Getting the scoop was Las Vegas-based United Press International reporter Myram Borders, who got a 1 a.m. tip that Elvis was getting married at the Aladdin.

Borders, a former rival and now a friend, helped me put together questions for Priscilla on Wednesday. She got the exclusive by waiting around the Aladdin all night until she hit the jackpot. She saw Zenoff about 8 a.m. He confirmed he was there for the wedding.

Elvis and Priscilla flew back to Palm Springs that afternoon to celebrate with family and friends.

What few people know, Priscilla said as we wrapped up the telephone interview, was that the wedding was called off in November because the date leaked.

Her wedding dress is at Graceland.

"Vernon (Presley, Elvis' father) kept everything. Not that he was a hoarder," she said.

Priscilla Presley says Elvis Presley would have loved Cirque du Soleil's 'Viva ELVIS' Las Vegas show and 'Viva Elvis – The Album, ' out now from Legacy Recordings. Presley recently told USA Weekend that because "the show is on the Strip in Las Vegas, where he loved to perform, where his presence is, I think he'd be very honored."

And she's happy to see the emergence of a new generation of fans for the King of rock 'n' roll, who would have been 76 January 8th, because, she says, ' He had everything. He had the looks, the sex appeal, the style, but he was also humble and generous. He was a phenomenon."

Actor John Dye, whose career included the role of Andrew, the angel of death, in the long-running television series "Touched by an Angel," was found dead at his San Francisco home, a medical examiner's spokesman said Thursday.

Nevada Ballet Theatre, in Las Vegas, will honor actor Priscilla Presley as its 2011 Woman of the Year at the annual Black & White Ball on January 29, 2011, at Aria Resort & Casino inside CityCenter.
